After the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Minnesota Vikings last night, 22-17, linebacker Fred Warner had some insight into what the team needs to fix to achieve major success this season.

Warner said to the media after the game that it's important for the 49ers to be on their A-game especially in close games where the momentum can sway either direction according to David Lombardi. In the back-to-back defeats the team has suffered through, the 49ers lost by one score.

“We've shown what we're capable of, our best version of ourselves. But at the end of the day, I want our mental toughness to go up,” Warner said. “I want to win in any form or fashion. I don't care if it's ugly. (The type of game where) we'll figure it out later on, but let's find a way to get this done.”

He does have a point as the 49ers have been used to games where they control the game and blow out their opponent. But, against the Cleveland Browns last week and now the Vikings, they have failed to win in the “ugly” ones as Warner said.

Out of all the play-makers on the 49ers defense, Warner is an integral piece of that unit. So far this season, he has 39 solo tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. Warner and the 49ers will look to bounce back as they face the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday. They're still sitting at 5-2 at the top of the NFC West.
