Many consider Hall of Famer Jerry Rice to be the greatest wide receiver in NFL history. Randy Moss, however, is absolutely not on the same boat. Moss recently went on a bit of a tirade against Rice, which prompted Jerry Rice Jr. to come to the defense of his dad.

For starters, here's Moss' earlier statement declaring himself as the GOAT:

“I’ll put myself first, I’ll put [Terrell Owens] second,” Moss said in a recent appearance on the T.O. and Hatch podcast, via Ali Thanwalla of NBC Sports. “I think Jerry [Rice] is probably third or fourth. I’m talking about dominating the game and changing the game of football. I don’t live on statistics because if you live on statistics and live on championships, that’s all political. You’ve seen guys released or cut from a team just by a couple words in the media. You’ve seen guys not given contracts just because of the color of their skin. You’ve got to throw politics out of the game of football, and look at the impact of what each individual was able to make in the game of football.”

Moss was a great player during his heyday, and there's no denying that he's one of the greats. However, to say that stats and championships are merely “political” is a bit contentious, to say the least.

Rice Jr. caught wind of Moss' comments, and couldn't help but point out just how much of an impact his father had on the game:

Rice Jr. isn't wrong here, and it's hard to argue against facts.

At the end of the day, being the GOAT is always a matter of personal perspective. The truth of the matter here is that Rice and Moss (and Owens) all made their mark in the league. They are three of the best wide receivers of all time. We'll just leave it at that.
