When speaking about the greatest wide receiver in NFL history, Jerry Rice's name is usually mentioned as the greatest of all time. However, when asked the question himself, Randy Moss wasn't afraid to give himself the title of being the greatest wide receiver in NFL history.

“I’ll put myself first, I’ll put T.O. second,” Moss said on Terrell Owens' podcast, via Pro Football Talk. “I would put Jerry probably third or fourth. I’m talking about dominating the game and changing the game of football. I don’t live on statistics because if you live on statistics and live on championships that’s all political. You’ve seen guys released or cut from a team just by a couple words in the media. You’ve seen guys given contracts or you’ve seen guys not given contracts just because of the color of their skin. You’ve got to throw politics out of the game of football, and look at the impact of what each individual was able to make in the game of football.”

Statistically speaking, it's hard to argue that Rice isn't the most accomplished wide receiver to play in the NFL, despite Moss' claims. Rice leads all wide receivers in history in receptions (1,549), receiving yards (22,895), and receiving touchdowns (197).

Though, it is important to note that Rice played with Joe Montana and Steve Young for the majority of his career. Not to mention, he played 20 seasons in the NFL, allowing him to secure his long-standing wide receiver records.

But on the other hand, you could definitely argue that Moss and Owens were more talented pass-catchers during their playing careers. Moss and Owens were athletic freaks that teams had an impossible time covering on the field.

The argument of who is the best wide receiver of all time is one that will last forever. With that being said, Randy Moss is adding his own two cents to the discussion, informing everyone that he confidently feels he was the best wide receiver to put on an NFL uniform.
