The San Francisco 49ers' defense has been remarkable but no one on that defense has been better than Nick Bosa in the past month. As a result, Bosa was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month in October by the NFL.

The 49ers selected Bosa with the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft and many had high expectations for the Ohio State product. Without a doubt, Bosa has lived up to those expectations so far—and then some.

In the past four games, the rookie pass rusher has combined for 16 tackles, six sacks, nine tackles for loss, one interception, and one forced fumble. This past Sunday, Bosa had the best game of his young career against the Carolina Panthers.

The first-year edge rusher was nearly unstoppable as he sacked Kyle Allen three times and made a spectacular interception to help the 49ers blowout the Panthers 51-13. There's no doubt that it's been quite impressive to watch Bosa dominate the way he has this season.

With Bosa leading the way, San Francisco boasts the No. 1 defense in the NFL in terms of yards allowed per game (224.4). Along with the yards, the 49ers' defense has only given up 11 points per game (second-best in the NFL).

Above all, San Francisco is fourth in the NFL with 27 sacks as a team. This comes after the 49ers had just 37 combined sacks in 2018 (24th in the NFL).

Therefore, it's safe to say that Bosa has been the MVP of San Francisco's defense up to this point. Most people have locked in Bosa as the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year but he's making the case to possibly win the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year Award.
