The San Francisco 49ers have been dealt a significant blow with the loss of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a season-ending ACL tear during Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

This has put them in a bit of a bind at the position looking for a replacement to fill in for Garoppolo for the rest of the season, which may put Colin Kaepernick back into the mix as a possibility. With that in mind, BetOnline.ag has released odds that the 49ers would look to bring back Kaepnernick this year that are little higher than expected.

Although there is a strong belief that it won't happen, the possibility is certainly there as Colin Kaepernick is one of the best quarterbacks left on the open market. He is one of the most accomplished players at his position still not signed as he has last played in the 2016 campaign with the 49ers.

San Franciso is likely to turn to second-year quarterback C.J. Beathard to take over the reins of the offense as he held that job last season before Garoppolo was inserted as the starter in the final five games of the year. In six games played, he had recorded 1,430 passing yards on a 54.2 completion percentage along with four touchdowns and six interceptions. Beathard struggled to push the 49ers to consistent success as the team dropped five out of those contests as he threw an interception in all but once during that span.

If things don't go as hoped with the former Iowa product, the team could look elsewhere on the open market as there are reports of them having interesting Tom Savage, T.J. Yates, and Kellen Clemens. Only time will tell if the 49ers will go down the path of possibly bringing in the 30-year-old to lead the charge under center this season.
