Another day, another problem for San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster after he was arrested for the second time in less than a month. This time, he was booked with suspected offenses of domestic violence, threats, and possession of an assault weapon.

According to the initial reports, Foster's girlfriend claimed he was in possession of two assault rifles in his Los Gatos residence. However, it now appears he was equipped with some much heavier firepower, according to Patrick May and Robert Salonga of The Mercury News:

According to an archived police dispatch radio recording of the 911 call, “the RP (reporting party, apparently Foster’s longtime girlfriend, whom he is alleged to have assaulted) advises there should be at least two AR-15 weapons in the house.”

But multiple sources familiar with the investigation told this news organization that police found a single SIG Sauer 516 short-barreled rifle, or SBR. Foster, who was released Sunday after posting $75,000 bail, was booked on a single count of possession of an assault weapon.

Needless to say, Foster's choice of weaponry carries a lucrative price tag and is hailed by gun aficionados as one of the best on the market. As of right now, there are certain loopholes that have allowed for the distribution and sale of these guns in the state of California.

More details emerged on Foster's arrest Monday, courtesy of Salonga:

The domestic-violence arrest of San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster stemmed from his girlfriend’s accusation that he physically dragged her during an argument at a Los Gatos home Sunday morning, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Regardless, it has clearly resulted in a heavy penalty for Foster, along with his NFL career. His recent spats with the law have raised questions surrounding the troublesome linebacker's future with the Niners.

It goes without saying that San Francisco is one of the most progressive cities in the nation. Although Foster's first offense for marijuana possession in Alabama can be overlooked, having a player with alleged domestic violence issues is not going to sit well with fans.
