The San Francisco 49ers will try to end their season on a high note in Week 17. However, Brandon Aiyuk's season is already over. The Niners have been removed from playoff contention for some time now, but they still hold the power to complicate some of their rivals' chances of advancing in the playoffs, such as the Seattle Seahawks.
While the 49ers will be looking to complicate the Seahawks' seeding in the playoffs, their chances of achieving that took a decent hit after learning that wideout Brandon Aiyuk will remain on the sidelines come Sunday, per 49ers' team reporter Keiana Martin.
Aiyuk sustained a high-ankle sprain injury for the 49ers against the Arizona Cardinals last week. He finished the game with one reception for 15 yards while also rushing for 16 yards.
While his numbers last week don't suggest it, the rookie has had a spectacular season to date. He's caught 62.5 percent of his passes for 748 yards, resulting in five touchdowns. Aiyuk's production switched gears in Week 7 against the New England Patriots. He turned in his first 100-plus reception yard game of his career with the 49ers .
If the 49ers can make things difficult in Week 17, the Seahawks' playoff picture becomes murky. While they have the NFC West division on lock, the overall NFC conference is still up for grabs. A lost to the 49ers puts the Seahawks out of the No.1 spot in the conference while making the No.2 spot still a challenge depending on the success of other contenders.
The Seahawks should be a bit worried, seeing as how the 49ers brought about some bad playoff luck to the Cardinals during Week 16.
