Ah yes, villains. We simply can't get enough of them. There's a huge roster of video game villains that everyone loves to hate and hates to love. Villains like Bowser, Dr. Robotnik, Sephiroth, and Wesker always seem to get the spotlight. But what about the underrated video game villains?

Well, worry no longer for I have come up with a list of low-key yet amazing villains in the video game industry. These characters brought out the best and worst in us. Just keep in mind that these aren't in chronological order. So without further ado, here you go:

1.) Zeus (God of War series)

We've all had our fair share of terrible fathers. But no one else comes close like dear old daddy Zeus. Not only did he try to have Kratos killed as a boy, but all along he was the one pulling the strings that truly made the Ghost of Sparta miserable.

Zeus is an underrated video game villain because not only did he lock up Kratos' mother or tortured his brother. He also murdered Athena, sent him to Hades and back, and eventually went to war with him. Oh Zeus, you truly deserved that awfully satisfying head-bashing. Can't really blame him though, I mean, Cronos did try to eat him as a baby. Thank god Kratos at least tries to be a good father in God of War (2018).

2.) Wander (Shadow of The Colossus)

Yes, I know what you're thinking. Why is Wander on this list of underrated video game villains you ask? Well, think about it. Before the ending even occurs, most fans are already completely hooked on the incredible story and gameplay of Shadow of the Colossus. We were then left with our mouths open when it was revealed that the character we were playing as has been doing the deeds of an evil entity called Dormin the entire time.

The innocent beasts Wander has been slaughtering on his quest to save their friend, Mono, were actually slowly turning the player into Dormin. This is still one of the best games of all time and this is just one of those reasons.

3.) Gary Smith (Bully)

Oh Gary, what could have been. From the beginning of the game, we're led to believe that good ol' Gary was our soon-to-be best bud. He helps us throughout the entire game and pretends to be our right-hand man. Boy were we wrong.

Gary is an underrated video game villain because he's nothing but a backstabbing, insecure, little boy who's hellbent on destroying Bullworth Academy. Props to him though, for his betrayal was low-key why I started having trust issues with my friends.

4.) Xehanort (Kingdom Hearts Series)

The old bald man who's been causing nothing but trouble to Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Not enough people talk about Xehanort and how much of an underrated video game villain he is. The man is absolutely ruthless and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. I mean, just the fact that he leads an organization full of badass men in black hooded robes says a lot. It's like he googled “how to be a badass evil boss” and just went with it.

One of his best evil moments in Kingdom Hearts III was when Kairi died. In order to get the X-Blade, Xehanort needed the Guardians of Light and the Seekers of Darkness to fight. He needed all thirteen members in his group to fight Sora and the other protagonists.

However, when he was the last one that needed to fight them, Sora, Riku, and Mickey refused to attack. This caused him to strike Kairi down in front of them, killing her. Luckily, Sora was able to go to The Final World and bring her back to life but had to sacrifice himself in the process.

5.) Deus (Asura's Wrath)

Another underrated video game villain from one of the most, and I cannot stress this enough, underrated video games of all time. But to be perfectly honest, is Asura's Wrath truly a video game, to begin with? Because if anything, it sort of feels like an interactive film or anime.

Well, either way, Deus makes this list because he's just pure evil incarnate. First off, he has The Emperor murdered. Then he kills Asura's wife and kidnaps his daughter. Then he blames Asura for the murders and has him sent to the underworld. Wow. Just wow. No wonder Asura's always mad. I mean who wouldn't? It's sort of awesome how Asura also bashed his head in much as Kratos did to Zeus.

Just a friendly reminder, if your name ends in “-eus”, please don't piss off any god lest you get your head smashed.
