Every NFL season, there are coaches who have a warm seat before the season even starts, and that isn't any different this season.

There were many coaching changes made this offseason, but there were a few guys who some thought could be canned who were given another year. There are also coaches who are getting towards their contract who might not get renewed unless their team rises up to the occasion this season.

Let's take a look at five NFL coaches who are already on the hot seat without a game even being played yet in the 2020 season.

5. Sean McVay

Just two years ago, the Los Angeles Rams were just a few passes away from winning the Super Bowl, but now there have to be questions about if his seat is heating up.

There are some big questions about Jared Goff under center for the Rams, but with his contract, he is going to be the starting quarterback for LA the next couple of years. So, McVay needs to find a way to win with him.

The Rams also moved on from Todd Gurley this offseason, and the running game is a big question mark. McVay is an offense-first coach, but if that struggles, could the team decide they want to go a different direction?

It might be a little bit of a longshot, but the Rams could end up moving on from McVay if they really struggle.

4. Matt Nagy

Matt Nagy started off his tenure with the Chicago Bears in an elite way by winning the NFC North in the 2018 season, but it has all gone downhill since then.

The biggest issue with Nagy has been helping Mitchell Trubisky develop into an NFL quarterback. To the outside, that might look a reason to keep Nagy with a new quarterback, but he was supposed to help develop Trubisky, and it didn't happen.

During the 2019 season, the Bears finished with an 8-8 record, which meant they missed the playoffs. They do have Nick Foles on board now in hopes he can lead the Bears to more success (even if they are saying it's a competition).

If the Bears struggle, there are going to be a lot about questions if Nagy should continue to be the man in charge.

3. Bill O'Brien

Who knows what the Texans will do with Bill O'Brien but there is a lot of pressure on him heading into the 2020 season. O'Brien not only is the head coach for the Texans, but he is making decisions on the roster.

O'Brien has received a lot of pushback from fans and media for some of his roster decisions, including trading away DeAndre Hopkins. The Texans should still be good this season, but without Hopkins, there is no doubt the offense won't be as good.

The Texans are still considered one of the better teams in the AFC, but will just making the playoffs be enough for this team? This could be a situation where O'Brien needs to lead the Texans to a couple of playoff wins to keep his job.

If he doesn't lead the Texans to the playoffs, it's hard to imagine he will have any shot of coming back.

2. Doug Marrone

This one is pretty obvious, and to keep his job, it's going to take quite the season. After the 2019 season, many believe Marrone's time with the Jacksonville Jaguars was done, but the team decided to give him one more season.

Just a few years ago, the Jaguars were one win away from reaching the Super Bowl, but everything has come crashing down since then. In the last two seasons, Marrone has led the Jaguars to only 11 total wins.

It's going to be tough to turn things around this season with Gardner Minshew under center. Minshew might be a fine quarterback, but he is a guy who needs talent around him, and the Jaguars haven't built a good enough roster to get back to being a contender in the NFL.

1. Matt Patricia

Another coach who many thought would be gone after the 2019 season was Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia. Matthew Stafford dealt with a back injury last season which ruined the Lions' season, but that shouldn't take away from how much Patricia has struggled since taking over the team.

Patricia was a defensive coach with the New England Patriots, but he hasn't helped improve that side of the ball much with the Lions. He also had some falling out with players inside the organization, and others have talked bad against him after leaving the squad.

The Lions historically have been a bad team, so they might be giving him a longer leash, but if they don't make the playoffs it's hard to imagine the Lions bring him back for another season.

If the Lions start off slow this season, it wouldn't be shocking to see Patricia get the boot early.
