Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young is set for arguably the biggest test of his football career on Monday, as the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will clash with the No. 3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Young enters this contest with plenty of expectations to deliver for the reigning SEC champions. Numerous Heisman Trophy winners before him had potent showings of their own in national title games. More so, the pressure sure will be on Young to mirror his performance from the 2021 SEC Championship Game, where he recorded three touchdown passes in Alabama's 41-24 win over Georgia.

Ahead of this highly anticipated clash, Young revealed during a press conference that he spoke to former Alabama quarterback and current New England Patriots rookie Mac Jones. Young had a front-row seat to watch Jones last season as the current Patriots passer led the Crimson Tide to a national title win.

In essence, Jones wants Young to remain cool, calm and collected in this upcoming rematch with the Bulldogs.

“I talked to Mac not too long ago, a couple days ago,” Young said. “And him just telling me to keep going to the finish, to lock in, just to make sure that we finish everything off right.

“And to hear from Mac really on a regular basis, just to have that respect from the other guys in the past, for me that means a lot.

“Coming here, I understood the rich quarterback history. Being able to watch Mac last year, I really got to see what it was like being right next to him. So carrying on that legacy and doing what I can to improve it, that means a lot to me and I take a lot of pride in that.”

Young will look to help Alabama become the first team in the College Football Playoff era to repeat as national champions.

Plenty will be on the line for both SEC powerhouses come Monday night.
