The 2019-20 NFL season is four weeks in and one of the surprise teams is the San Francisco 49ers. Sitting at 3-0, the 49ers are flying under the radar. But is that where they should be?

The New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs are all undefeated and yet, the 49ers are not getting the same respect. Why is that? When the season started, who called this?

The 49ers are being led by the face of their franchise, Jimmy Garoppolo. Through three games, Garoppolo has passed for 739 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 63.9 percent of his passes. Yes, the four INTs are a huge concern, however, winning is a great way to offset the mistakes.

But this is not just Jimmy's team. The two main areas of concerns for the 49ers coming into the season was what will happen with their WR and RB production? After signing Jerick McKinnon last year, the 49ers figured they had their feature back. However, McKinnon has been injured and the forgotten back, Matt Breida has taken the ground game to new heights.

Breida is leading the charge with 226 yards but right behind him is Raheem Mostert with 202 yards. On the receiving end, George Kittles is still consistent at the TE position with 17 receptions for 165 yards. But it's the production from Marquise Goodwin, who averages 20.8 yards per catch and Deebo Samuels (11 receptions, 147 yards) that has the offense on the move.

The main chatter surrounding their hot start has been concerns about their schedule. But this is still the NFL where professionals are paid to do their jobs. In their three wins, the 49ers have beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Two of their opponents have under .500 records, how is that the 49ers' fault?

On the defensive end is where the real magic has happened. The 49ers, before their Bye Week, ranked 7th in rushing yards allowed and 7th in passing yards allowed. The defense is a balanced bunch. With Richard Sherman controlling the secondary, what was to be expected? The 49ers have relied on a young pass rush to harass QBs which has accounted for nine sacks on the year.

As they head into Week 4, they have no choice but to look ahead to some of the teams they are set to face. Up first are the Cleveland Browns, then the Los Angeles Rams, followed by a tough stretch against the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, and Baltimore Ravens.

But here is why the 49ers being undefeated holds some weight. If we're basing this off schedule, then why haven't the Patriots and Cowboys taken some hits as well? The Patriots opponents are well under .500 but winning is expected of them. The same can be said regarding the Cowboys. They have wins against the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and the Washington Redskins. No Super Bowl contenders in that bunch.

In their first three games, the San Francisco 49ers have played two road games and only one at home. In their next three, they're on the road followed by a stretch where they play four straight home games.

Last season, this is where they would have faltered. It doesn't matter the team, winning outside of your stadium in the NFL is always tough. And yet, here there are 2-0 on the road. That's a true sign of maturity. If the offense can find a groove and the defense can continue to provide pressure to the QB, it doesn't matter the level of competition they face, the 49ers will be playoff-bound in 2020.

If Fox Sports, ESPN, Bleacher Report or any other top sports analyst can gawk over the early season success of the Packers, Chiefs, Patriots, and Cowboys, how can they continue to overlook the one team no one saw coming?

The NFL is a team sport and right now, the San Francisco 49ers are clicking. Are there holes to fill? Yes. Do they have concerns on both sides of the ball? Yes. Not every player has played at top level. However, that's the beauty of what they have accomplished so far. Players have struggled and yet, as a team, they're just as undefeated as the Chiefs, and Patriots. That says a lot.
