Fans of the Houston Astros have gotten accustomed to witnessing excellence from the ballclub they support. After all, the Astros have missed the playoffs just once in the past nine seasons, making it to four World Series and winning a championship twice during that span. Thus, Astros fans expected that their team would have at least put up a fight in Game 7 of the 2023 ALCS against the Texas Rangers.

That, however, did not materialize. In fact, the Astros stunk so bad in the winner-takes-all matchup against the Rangers that their fans headed for the exits with four more innings left to play. And just to rub even more salt on the fans' wounds, ushers in Minute Maid Park greeted the exiting fans as they dejectedly exited the ballpark, telling them to “have a good night” when there's simply no way they could after witnessing their team exit the postseason in demoralizing fashion.

Per Mike Leslie of WFAA:

Astros fans who made the trip to Minute Maid Park for any of the four ALCS games against the Rangers held inside the ballpark definitely did not come home feeling satisfied. It seems as though the Astros have had home-field disadvantage for years; back in the 2019 World Series, the Astros also lost all four games at Minute Maid Park and won all three on the road, and now, their past demons have come back to haunt them.

But it's not like the Astros stood no chance against the Rangers on the night. It only seems that way due to the final score. But even though the Astros started off poorly after Cristian Javier allowed three early runs, the game was still close at 4-2 heading into the fourth inning. However, that was when J.P. France really struggled for the Astros, allowing four runs and essentially putting the game out of their reach.

While exiting playoff games early is rarely a good idea, Astros fans were proven correct in their decision, as they ended up losing 11-4. Nevertheless, these fans should be back next year, especially since Houston should still have their core guys ready to redeem themselves once more.
