The L.A. Clippers and Houston Rockets agreed upon a deal that would send superstar guard Chris Paul to Houston in exchange for a package involving Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, and a 2018 protected first round pick, and not long after the deal was agreed upon, rumors began to surface explaining Paul's building unhappiness with the Clippers organization.

The report stated that Paul had grown frustrated with head coach Doc Rivers and the way he went about treating his son Austin Rivers different than some of the other players. It came from ESPN SportsCenter anchor Michael Eaves, which Austin himself took exception to.

Not only Austin, but his sister Callie chimed in as well, calling the entire report bogus.

In the report, ESPN stated that coach Rivers turned down a multi-player trade that would've sent the younger Rivers to the New York Knicks along with guard Jamal Crawford and Paul Pierce in exchange for star forward Carmelo Anthony and guard Sasha Vujacic. A trade like that in what would've been a contract year for both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul is something that seems hard to pass on, but when I asked Rivers (during his end of season interview) about any potential trades he regretted not making back before the trade deadline, Rivers denied that there were any trades he felt would benefit the Clippers.

Contrary to what many saw from him in the first couple of years in the NBA, Rivers had a great season for the Clippers with career-highs across the board, averaging 12 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 44.4% shooting from the field and 37.1% from beyond the three-point arc. With Paul out of the picture, Rivers has a lot of room to build on his career season, especially if forward Blake Griffin opts not to return to the Clippers. His decision, however, is still up in the air as of Wednesday night.
