Over last year’s summer transfer window, Barcelona president Joan Laporta revamped the club by signing multiple notable talents on free transfer deals. Laporta could end up opting for this approach once again later this year.

For one, Chelsea right-back Cesar Azpilicueta has been linked with a move to Barca over the upcoming summer transfer window. Azpilicueta is set to become a free agent after this season, and the Catalan side is open to coming to terms with him on a multiyear free transfer deal.

From Jordi Alba’s perspective, as he told Cadena Ser's “El Larguero” show, he would much welcome his Spanish national team counterpart to Barcelona.

“I would really like to,” Alba said. “He is a great professional, one of the best I have ever seen. He adapts well to many positions, he is always with the team, he is competitive, he serves well the ball … he would be a great signing for any club. I haven't talked to him about it, but I would love for him to come.”

As Alba touched on, Azpilicueta has proven to be a versatile talent over the course of his career so far. For one, he has played the right-back, wing-back and center-back positions for manager Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea this season.

For now, both Alba and Azpilicueta may go on to feature for Spain in its upcoming international friendly fixtures against Albania and Iceland.
