Following back-to-back winless results in La Liga play, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez still has full confidence that his team can make a push to the top-four of the standings.

Barca currently holds an eighth place standing in the La Liga table. The Catalan side had golden opportunities to move up in the standings with wins over both Real Betis and Osasuna but failed to do so in the end. Still, Barca does sit at a mere five points behind fourth place side Atletico Madrid in the table.

Even as Barca has gone nearly a full month since its last win in all competitions, Xavi has belief that his side can turn around its form and climb up to a top-four spot in the La Liga table, which he touched on during a press conference ahead of the home league fixture against Elche.

“I have a lot of confidence in the squad, players,” Xavi said. “The results are not coming, but I am confident. The sensations are getting better and more positive, but the results are not coming.

“The main objective is to finish in the top-four and win titles. Nothing can be ruled out, we have seen all colors. The gap with the leader is very big.”

Xavi sees room for improvement within the squad, as he views that a thorough comprehension of the team's tactics is needed for some players.

“There's still a lack of understanding of the football we want to play,” Xavi said. “There are players that don't understand positional play and, being Barca, that's surprising.

“We have to be positive and brave. We must press high, press when we lose the ball, attack the spaces … this is what we want.”

Barca has maintained possession with ease and has created a bulk of key chances per match under Xavi, but defensive errors coupled with the lack of being clinical in putting away such goal-scoring opportunities have marred the team’s performances as of late.

Barcelona will look to get back to its winning ways in the fixture against Elche.
