Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has opened up his account at Barcelona on a promising note.

Overall, Aubameyang has been a standout performer for the Catalan side in all competitions as of late. Barca manager Xavi Hernandez has been featuring the Gabon international in his 4-3-3 setup, and the veteran forward has continued to respond in convincing fashion. He has scored five goals in his last three appearances, which include the notable hat-trick showing in Barca’s 4-1 win over Valencia in La Liga play.

For Aubameyang, it has been so far so good under the managerial reign of Xavi, which he touched on in speaking to Bein Sports France.

“Things are going very well with Xavi,” Aubameyang said. “He is a legend and he is going to bring a lot of things to the club. Barca deserve to be in front and I am very happy there because I am at home. I am Spanish because of my mother.”

When Aubameyang joined Barca in the winter transfer window, he noted of his “dream” to play in La Liga. For a talent who shined during his runs in the Premier League and Bundesliga, he is enjoying his ongoing tenure in Spain’s top flight.

“The league is a good competition for me because it allows me to utilize my qualities,” Aubameyang said.

Aubameyang was able to sign with Barca after he came to terms with Arsenal club officials on a contract termination agreement. From being held out of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s squad lists to being stripped of the team captaincy, he did not necessarily leave the club on strong terms.

In the big picture, Aubameyang has since moved on from his Arsenal exit and is much pleased to have received the opportunity to play at Barca.

“It was hard because I had many ties with the club and I had been there for four years,” Aubameyang said. “Sometimes you have to go through these trials, but I can't hide the fact that I'm very happy to have found Barca.”

A pair of key tests await Aubameyang and Barcelona in the upcoming La Liga fixture against Elche and the opening leg of the Europa League round of 16 clash with Galatasaray.
