As the winter transfer window is mere weeks away from opening, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has now made one notable decision regarding midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

As noted by the Spanish-based outlet Sport, Xavi views de Jong as a player who is “absolutely non-transferable.” The new Barca manager has full confidence in the Dutch international and has reportedly already spoken with him about the expectations for him at the club.

Overall, Barcelona club officials are more than pleased with de Jong’s professionalism. However, Barca is currently unsure of what de Jong plans to soon do in regard to his future at the club.

Sport further added that the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich are “crazy” about signing de Jong and the Dutch talent currently has offers on the table regarding a possible departure from the Catalan side.

As of late, de Jong’s name has hovered over the transfer rumor mill. For one, Manchester City has also been linked with a possible move for the Dutchman.

Xavi recently touched on de Jong’s future at Barca, as he noted that the midfielder is “important” to the club. Still, speculation about de Jong's future at the Barca has ramped up following the club's recent elimination from this season's UEFA Champions League competition, as much talk has centered on a potential move for him in either of next year’s transfer windows.

The Dutch talent has five more years remaining on his current contract deal with the club. His name may continue to swirl around the rumor mill as the upcoming winter window nears.
