As the ongoing Serie A campaign is expected to have multiple clubs vying for the Scudetto over this season, Juventus and AS Roma are already eyeing one player as a possible midseason reinforcement.

As noted by the Italian-based outlet CalcioMercato, Juventus and AS Roma are showing an early transfer interest in Barcelona center-back Clement Lenglet. The report adds that both Serie A clubs are intrigued with pushing to sign him over the upcoming winter transfer window.

Lenglet was heavily linked with a departure from Barca over the summer transfer window, although he does have five more years remaining on his current contract deal with the club. He came off a season where costly penalties committed and numerous positional errors marred his campaign with the Catalan side.

Ahead of the summer transfer window, Lenglet made clear of his intention to stay put at Barca. Still, he was a mainstay in the summer transfer rumor mill. He was often linked with possible loan deals, especially as Barca club officials aimed to slash costs from the team's wage bill.

CalcioMercato adds that although Barca was not able to find a suitor for the French defender in the summer, the side will make another attempt to offload him in the winter transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether any other clubs will join Juventus and AS Roma in showing a reported interest in signing Lenglet. Juventus is not in urgent need of a veteran center-back, while AS Roma could opt to sign such a player to bolster its depth at the position.

For the veteran Barcelona defender, he has not been a regular with the La Liga powerhouse this season. He has only totaled for 95 minutes played in league play, as Barca manager Ronald Koeman has so far opted to instead call upon the likes of center-backs Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo to start in key matches.

It remains to be seen whether the lack of playing time for Lenglet so far this season may push him to seek a move elsewhere in January.
