The Chicago Bears shut down their practice facility at Halas Hall on Thursday due to a COVID-19 outbreak, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. This news comes just days ahead of the Bears' scheduled matchup against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

As Biggs notes in his report, the Bears went on to hold a virtual meeting to discuss a plan of action. The fact that the Bears had another player test positive leaves lingering concern about the team's upcoming matchup against the Titans, who have dealt with coronavirus concerns of their own this season (23 players and staff members testing positive and multiple games being rescheduled).

Chicago's week began with offensive tackle Jason Briggs testing positive for the virus, and now this—the team's second confirmed case in three days.

The Bears sent out an official statement with regards to this new positive test.

“This morning we were notified that another Bears player has tested positive for COVID-19,” per Larry Meyer on the team's official website. “As a result, the club has decided to pause all in-person football activities and close Halas Hall. Today's practice has been canceled and all meetings will be conducted virtually. The player who tested positive and all close contacts have been contacted and have already begun self-isolation. We will continue to work closely with the NFL medical experts and follow the league's intensive protocol. The health and safety of our team, players and staff are the highest priority.”

The Bears are currently holding a 5-3 overall record, which has them ranked second in the NFC North. Unfortunately, though, Chicago was defeated in each of its last two outings (Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints).

The NFL has already been forced to reschedule games due to COVID-19 outbreaks this season. Let's see if a similar scenario plays out in this case.
