The Chicago Bears have added a veteran wide receiver to their roster with the addition of Ted Ginn Jr., inking him to a one-year deal, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Ginn's professional football odyssey will continue at least another season, his 14th in the league. He has spent the past three years with the New Orleans Saints, totaling 100 receptions, eight of which were for touchdowns.

Ginn, who was chosen with the ninth overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, has never spent more than three seasons with a franchise. Ginn's production as a wide receiver has increased with age, as he has not returned a punt in either of the previous two seasons.

With Cordarrelle Patterson and Tarik Cohen already on the depth chart, it's unlikely that the Bears view Ginn as a return threat any longer, although he does have the experience at his disposal.

Aside from Allen Robinson, the Chicago wide receiving corps enters 2020 in flux. It appears that the team will enter training camp with a quarterback competition between Mitchell Trubisky and the newly-acquired Nick Foles, but who either man will be throwing to once the season begins remains a question mark.

The addition of Ginn gives a veteran presence to a wide receiving group that includes Anthony Miller, Javon Wims, Riley Ridley, Darnell Mooney, Reggie Davis, Trevor Davis and Thomas Ives. Even in his age-35 season, Chicago hopes to tap into the speed and big-play ability that Ginn has shown the propensity for during his career.
