The Chicago Bears traded for veteran quarterback Nick Foles this offseason. That makes things much more difficult for incumbent quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

Now Trubisky finds himself in a quarterback competition. And according to Alyssa Barbieri of Bearswire.com, he's embracing that challenge.

2018 was a great year for Trubisky and the Bears. He was far from perfect, but he was solid. And an elite Chicago defense masked any of the problems he had. That year, the Bears went 12-4.

However, things went a little sour for Trubisky and company in 2019. Despite playing in one more game than he did in 2018, the quarterback threw for few yards (3,138 compared to 3,223 the year prior) and touchdowns (17 compared to 24).

Partially due to that (although there were definitely other factors), the Bears dropped to 8-8 in 2019. They did not make the playoffs, and suddenly when from a team on the rise to a team searching for an identity.

With that in mind, the Bears made a move this offseason. They traded for Foles. And now a quarterback competition is set.

To be fair, Foles did not enjoy a positive 2019 either. He had injury problems and, when healthy, was far from impressive with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

So this is definitely anyone's competition. It's that part that makes it so great, though. Hopefully, for the Bears, this will get the absolute most out of both quarterbacks.

If that happens, you have a veteran with a Super Bowl MVP under his belt. You also have a rising quarterback that could start leaning towards more greatness.

If it doesn't happen though, the Bears have two lost quarterbacks and will need to search for a new one. Even if that's the case, Chicago will at least have their answer thanks to this competition.

And the good news is, it sounds like Trubisky is ready to prove himself.
