The Chicago Bears signed safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to a one-year deal this offseason. It seemed like the contract could end up being a steal as Clinton-Dix has shown in the past that he can be an elite-level talent at the position.

However, it looks like Chicago will have to pump the breaks for the time being, as he's dealing with a knee injury. Not only is it a knee injury, but according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, it's one that will likely end with Clinton-Dix being put on the PUP list.

This could end up being disastrous for the Bears. Their star safety Adrian Amos defected to divisional rivals, the Green Bay Packers, this offseason. Clinton-Dix might not be considered as good as Amos, but the hope seemed to be that he would fill his shoes well enough.

Now, the Bears might need to go into backup plan number two.

With that being said, though, it's unclear exactly how bad this injury is. Although it could land him on the PUP list, Clinton-Dix could find his way back to the team a lot earlier than that would suggest.

The Chicago Bears went 12-4 last season but lost in their first playoff game to the Philadelphia Eagles (on the legendary double-doink missed field goal). They have a lot of players that could be much improved in 2019 and helped them build towards a deeper playoff run.

Although Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is a new face on the team, he's definitely one of the players that could play a major factor in that goal. Hopefully, he returns from injury a lot early than a PUP list placement would suggest.
