The Chicago Bears were one of the best teams in the NFL in 2018 and are ready to have another successful season in 2019. A former Bears legend is very confident in Matt Nagy and the Bears in the upcoming season.

Recently, the Chicago Sun-Times caught up with Mike Ditka and he is high on Chicago's chances in 2019. Of course, Ditka played tight end and later coached the Bears in the 1980s.

“The Bears are going to be good,” he said. “Now, how far you go after you win the division, that depends. The main thing you’ve got to do [is beat] Green Bay, Minnesota and Detroit. You’ve got to come out of that division with at least five wins with [those] teams. Now, if you do that, you’re going to be in pretty good shape. The rest of the league will usually take care of itself. The schedule will balance out.

The NFC North is a highly-competitive division with all of the teams getting better this offseason. In the last three seasons, there have been three different teams to be crowned champs in the NFC North. The Green Bay Packers won in 2016, the Minnesota Vikings in 2017, and the Bears last year.

Therefore, Ditka is right to believe that the Bears will need to win their division games if they hope to reach their ultimate goal. Last season, Chicago went 5-1 in the division and ended with an impressive 12-4 record.

Now, with Mitchell Trubisky having another offseason under Nagy and the defense returning, the Bears are expected to be contenders in 2019. If you ask Ditka, the Bears have a good shot at going deep into the playoffs.
