Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky knows that he has been a disappointment this season and hasn't played up to his potential. The hope was Trubisky would take a big step forward in year three in the league, but instead, he has taken a big step backward and has made some wonder if he is still the future of the Bears.

Trubisky was asked about his season and said he knows he hasn't played up to his potential. He also said he has a fire inside him to be better and he knows that can happen.

“Any time you feel like you’re not playing up to your potential, I think that drives you,” Trubisky said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “I’ve got a lot of personal drive and fire within me [and] I know I haven’t played to my potential yet. That’s frustrating, but it’s also something that motivates me a lot.”

Trubisky also said going forward he thinks he can be more consistent. He knows at times he has been good, he just needs to make that an every game thing next season.

“You see really good games, and then you see some really bad games,” Trubisky said of his season. “The consistency just hasn’t been there. I think I could be a lot more of a consistent quarterback in the future.”

Hopefully, he can show that consistency early next season or the team could decide to move on. There are some around the league who think there could be some competition brought in this offseason for Trubisky. Maybe that's all he needs to take that next step forward.
