Chicago Bears quarterback Nick Foles has a very good and smart way of handling the craziness that has consumed the world this 2020.

In a virtual press scrum with the Chicago media, Foles fielded a bunch of different questions, including a few about the current world at large and how he has been handling things. When asked about players opting out of the season and leagues being forced to cancel games and potentially seasons over positive tests, the Bears QB had a very smart response.

“I don't know what the future holds, as far as it pertains to a month from now, but I do know that today, after this, I have a meeting. And in that meeting we're going to go through our installation today, and that's all I'm focused on, and we'll see what happens,” Nick Foles said. “But I do want to say that I know everyone's been affected, and just that our prayers and our thoughts are with everyone, because it has been a really tough 2020 for every single person.”

Meanwhile, when asked about how he's been dealing with distractions and staying focused, he was very honest about how hard it has been in today's world.

“I'm human just like everyone else, where all those distractions do affect me,” the new Bears veteran added. “You can ask my wife. There's times where I'm like, ‘Oh my gosh, I'm freaking out,' and then she's like, ‘Alright,' and I'll take a breath, and we'll have a conversation. I'm like, ‘Alright, I know how to hone back in, I know how to eliminate the clutter. I spend time eliminating things that shouldn't be in my mind, that I shouldn't focus on, and I hone back into the moment. And I say that to say – because there's people that will see this interview, kids that are going through that – to say, hey, we as professional athletes do that. We might not talk about it all the time. Well, I'm talking about it. You've got to handle it. You've got to eliminate the clutter and focus on the simple things.”

A couple of very smart and real answers from a man who has been in the league for a long time and knows how to be successful.

It remains to be seen how Foles will perform in 2020 after getting traded to the Bears in the offseason. He's facing stiff competition at the QB spot, but based on how he's handling things, it seems there's no reason to worry about his current state of mind and how he approaches the uncertainties of the upcoming campaign.
