For the fourth consecutive season, the Chicago Bears will win no more than six games; not exactly what Pernell McPhee was hoping for when he signed with the franchise in 2015.

Chicago's record currently stands at 4-10, and if they hope to hit the six-win mark by taking home victories these next two weeks, they'll have to do so without McPhee. The Bears officially placed the Mississippi State product on injured reserve Wednesday.

The talented outside linebacker began his career with the Baltimore Ravens and immediately experienced immense success, reaching the AFC Championship game his first two seasons while winning the Super Bowl in his second.

After four years in Baltimore, he decided to sign a five-year deal with Chicago, and while he's kept up his production, victories have eluded him and his teammates.

McPhee has mostly stayed on the field during his NFL career, but injuries are starting to take a toll. He missed the beginning of Chicago's slate in 2016 with a knee ailment, and while he only missed one outing through 15 weeks this year, a shoulder injury suffered on Saturday prematurely ended McPhee's season. He finishes 2017 with 21 tackles, four sacks, and one forced fumble.

In his place, the Bears activated Jonathan Anderson, who has shuttled between the Bears and their practice squad throughout the season, appearing in 10 games to date.

McPhee is owed $7.2 million in 2018 and has a cap hit of $8 million. Given his injuries as of late, the Bears could consider cutting him to get nearly all of that back.
