These two teams have had very different starts to the season. The Toronto Raptors have been on a roll lately and are coming off of six straight wins. While the Oklahoma City Thunder have been underwhelming and are coming off of back-to-back losses. This should be a lopsided matchup between two teams of different calibers.

Why The Raptors Could Cover The Spread

The Toronto Raptors have been on an impressive win streak recently. Toronto has taken down top teams such as the Heat (twice) and the Bulls. Through their first 52 games, the Raptors have secured 29 wins and 23 losses and they are very clearly trending upwards. Now that their roster is healthy, the Raptors look poised to make a deep run. The Thunder are one of the worst teams in the NBA and so there is no reason that Toronto shouldn't dominate in OKC. If the Raptors come in prepared to take care of business they should be able to do just that.

What makes this Raptors team so dangerous is the depth. Toronto's starting five each has the potential of going off on any given night. However, recently, Pascal Siakam has been leading the way. Spicy P has been dominant. Against the Hawks, he dropped 33 points and 9 rebounds, and most recently against the Hornets he nearly had a triple-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. Three other players scored 20+ points in that match and showed exactly what makes the Raptors special. Siakam may be the leader, but there is a lot more to this team than just him.

One of the biggest things working in favor of the Raptors is their current lack of injuries. Toronto has only one player, Goran Dragic, listed on their injury report. Dragic is not a recent addition and the team is used to playing without him. While many teams have to deal with injuries and unavailable players right now, the Raptors are able to simply take advantage and make a run. Expect this game to be no exception and for the Raptors to put in another dominant performance.

Why The Thunder Could Cover The Spread

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the worst teams in the NBA this season. While there's not much more they could be doing, it's still tough to watch a team consistently underperform. Through their first 53 games, the Thunder have only 17 wins and 36 losses. Their most recent loss came against the Golden State Warriors by 12. While no one can blame OKC for coming up short against the Warriors, it is their second straight loss by double-digit points. The Raptors are another tough opponent and if OKC wants to win on Wednesday they will need to seriously step things up. It is not impossible, but the Thunder certainly has an uphill battle ahead of them.

Lu Dort's return was a necessity for OKC. Dort is one of the most impactful players on this team and the Thunder can't afford to have him miss any games if they want to remain somewhat competitive. Against the Warriors, he contributed 26 points in 38 minutes. Another important roster member is Darius Bazley, who was leaned on more heavily in Dort's absence. This duo is not enough to take down Toronto, however, they have done a solid job of keeping this team in games. If they can both have big nights at home then maybe they could walk away with this win.

Injuries remain a big concern for OKC. The Thunder currently have five players listed on their injury report, all listed as out. Headlining the unavailable players in Shai Giligeous-Alexander. SGA is the true leader of this team and his absence has been detrimental to the Thunder's success. His absence is what has forced both Lu Dort and Darius Bazley to step up and pick up the slack. These injuries are even more difficult to a team, such as the Thunder, that has been struggling all season.

Final Raptors-Thunder Prediction & Pick

The Thunder have been on the wrong side of very wide spreads recently and for good reason, they have been getting dominated. OKC is coming off two straight double-digit losses and Wednesday will most likely mark number three. The stars are aligning for Toronto and betting against them recently has not paid off. The Raptors are coming off back-to-back double-digit wins and should have no problem doing that again on Wednesday. Pick Toronto to win and cover.

Final Raptors-Thunder Prediction & Pick: Toronto Raptors -10 (-110)
