Why The Rockies Will Cover The Spread/Win
The Rockies have a chance to do some damage offensively in this game. Spencer Arrighetti has a tendency to give up some hits and allow opponents to capitalize off them, as well. Opponents do not chase too many pitches off him, and his walk rate is high, as well. The Rockies are 11th in hard-hit percentage this season, so expect a few barrels from them in this game. If the Rockies can hit the ball hard, they will be able to win this game.
Feltner's numbers are not great this season, but he is much better on the road. He does not throw the ball well at Coors Field, but they are not there this game. On the road, Feltner gives up fewer runs and fewer hits, and he does a decent job getting opponents to stay off the bases. If Feltner can pitch well on the road in this one, just as his last two have been, the Rockies will win.
Why The Astros Will Cover The Spread/Win
Arrighetti is not having a great season, but he is facing a weaker offense. The Rockies swing and miss quite a bit, they chase plenty of pitches, and they swing the second-most in the MLB. Arrighetti needs to take advantage of this. If he can get the Rockies to expand the zone and get themselves out, the Astros will be able to win this game.
The Astros have already faced the Rockies twice this season, and they handled their business pretty easily. The Astros outscored the Rockies 20-6 in the series, and expect a lot of the same in this one. Houston is getting back to their winning ways, and they should continue that in this one. As long as the Astros are able to keep up their winning ways of late, they will win this game.
Final Rockies-Astros Prediction & Pick
Both pitchers give up some runs. Because of this, the over seems to be a very good bet. I would not be surprised to see both teams score at least five runs in this game. As for a winner, I like the Astros to win. I think they are starting to play their best baseball, and that will be the case in this game. I will take the Astros to not only win but cover the spread, as well.
