The Texas A&M Aggies are still alive, albeit barely, in the pursuit of an NCAA Tournament berth. College basketball odds experts are unanimous in saying that A&M has to beat Auburn in order to have any shot at an at-large bid. The Aggies just knocked Florida out of the NCAA Tournament hunt with their overtime win over the Gators on Thursday, but now they have to beat Auburn to move up the board and give themselves a chance. The SEC Tournament odds are not in their favor, but merely having a shot to play their way into the NCAA Tournament field is all coach Buzz Williams could have asked for entering this week in Tampa. We often see SEC bubble teams beat a high seed to play their way into the Big Dance. A&M gets its opportunity in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. Think about that point when making a Texas A&M Auburn prediction.
The Auburn Tigers are the regular-season SEC champions, and they have undeniably had a fantastic season, but there is certainly cause for concern with this team as it prepares for the NCAA Tournament. The big problem with Auburn is its halfcourt offense. Coach Bruce Pearl has struggled to get his guards to defer to future NBA lottery pick Jabari Smith. The guards shoot too many 3-point shots and don't entrust more possessions (and shots) to Smith, who is extraordinarily skilled and can make difficult contested jumpers look relatively easy. The more Auburn can run the offense through Smith and force defenses to react to him, the more the Tigers can thrive. This sounds easy, but Auburn has struggled to craft patient possessions in close games. The Tigers have also struggled in the first 10 minutes of the second half in a number of recent games. They led Mississippi State by 18 points a few weeks ago and then fell behind before rallying to win in overtime. Auburn needs more stability. That is something to keep in mind when making a Texas A&M Auburn pick.

Why Texas A&M Could Cover the Spread
The Aggies will be desperate, playing for their NCAA Tournament lives. Auburn will be a top-two seed in the NCAA Tournament and won't match the Aggies' frenetic energy. The spread is also really large; that's a good reason for A&M to cover. Auburn's second-half struggles are another piece of the puzzle.
Why Auburn Could Cover the Spread
The Tigers are rested after winning the SEC title. They hammered A&M earlier this season and should be able to defend the Aggies at all five spots on the floor. They can dominate with their defense.
Final Texas A&M-Auburn Prediction & Pick
Auburn should win outright, but the Tigers are too volatile on offense and the Aggies are too desperate as a team for this game to get out of hand. Auburn wins by seven.
Final Texas A&M-Auburn Pick: Texas A&M +10
