The TCU Horned Frogs will go to the NCAA Tournament. College basketball odds evaluators have to be impressed by Jamie Dixon. The TCU head coach will make his second NCAA Tournament appearance with the Frogs. In the previous 35 seasons before Dixon’s arrival in 2016, TCU made two trips to the NCAA tourney. Dixon continues to be one of the best coaches in the sport. He simply doesn’t get as much recognition because he coaches at less prominent programs.
When thinking about a TCU Texas prediction, it’s important to note that Texas won both regularly scheduled games in Big 12 Conference play. The Longhorns cruised at TCU in the first game. TCU outplayed Texas in the first half of the second game, but Texas dominated down the stretch and scored 45 second-half points to win by nine, 75-66. Texas is not a consistent offensive team, but it has fared well against TCU. The Horned Frogs will try to avoid a three-game sweep in the season series, while Texas — unable to rise to the top tier of the national rankings under new coach Chris Beard — wants to make a run which will get the attention of Big 12 Tournament odds analysts. The Longhorns want to boost their NCAA Tournament seeding and prepare for the Big Dance.
Chris Beard did not flop in his first season as Texas head coach, but he also didn’t hit a home run. Texas has beaten a few top-three NCAA Tournament seeds, Kansas and Tennessee, but the Longhorns have not been terrifically consistent this year. Their offense has struggled at times, which is what frequently happened under previous head coach Shaka Smart, who is now at Marquette. Beard has to find ways to make Texas’s offense more reliable in crunch time, and less prone to cripping droughts. This is part of the context in which you will make a TCU Texas prediction.
One other point of regret for Texas is that it lost to Kansas in overtime this past Saturday. Kansas had played four games in a span of eight days and was running on fumes. Yet, a comparatively fresher Texas team couldn’t finish off the exhausted Jayhawks. That is something to keep in mind when making a TCU Texas pick.

Why TCU Could Cover the Spread
The Horned Frogs are an NCAA Tournament-caliber team, and it’s hard for anyone to outplay an NCAA Tournament-level team three times. TCU played 30 good minutes against Texas the last time these teams played. If the Frogs can get to 40, or at least 36 or 37, they should keep this game very close and cover.
Why Texas Could Cover the Spread
The Longhorns have owned TCU this season. They have the answers for what the Frogs throw at them. UT will also be angry in this game after failing to win at Kansas on Saturday.
Final TCU-Texas Prediction & Pick
TCU has had a great season, but Texas gives the Frogs fits and should be able to dictate the terms in which this game is played.
Final TCU-Texas Pick: Texas -5.5
