Fans of the BIG3 League will be excited to hear that the league will be broadcasting games live on FOX Sports during their upcoming second season.

“Following the success of FOX Sports’ live broadcast of last season’s BIG3 championship game, we knew we wanted to expand that live access for basketball fans throughout the season,” said FOX Sports President, Production and Executive Producer John Entz in a press release. “We’re thrilled to continue to grow our partnership with the BIG3, and we look forward to another season of exciting basketball with some of the most recognized athletes in the game.”

The 3-on-3 basketball league, founded by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz last year, experienced a great amount of success during its inaugural season despite all the games being shown on tape delay. National media attention was given to the league after it showcased former NBA stars such as Chauncey Billups, Clyde Drexler, and Gary Payton. Featuring unusual rules, such as four-point shots, the league is gaining popularity among basketball fans across the globe.

Tape delay broadcasts limited the league’s growth however. The first live broadcast drew 400,000 viewers, but ratings declined after the second week. Much of this decline could be attributed to the fact that games were only shown on TV a day after they were played.

The next season, which tips off on June 22, 2018, will be shown live in its entirety. There will be four games played back-to-back on Friday evenings, and all of these games will be able to be viewed on FOX Sports or streamed on FOX Sports GO.

With these live broadcasts, the BIG3 is hoping that it can continue to grow the league and improve on its initial success. The broadcast schedule for the league, along with more information, can be found here.
