The NBA season is past it's the midseason point and things are starting to amp up across the league. Some teams are set and are ready to make a move towards the postseason. Others probably need to make a trade or two to solidify their spots. The Charlotte Hornets are part of the latter. One trade could propel this team not just into the playoffs, but maybe even win a series. The young core they have and the veterans on the team all complement each other well, but they could use one more piece to put them over the top.

It's a big man!

It's no secret. The Hornets are devoid of a true rim protector and dominant rebounder. Mason Plumlee has been solid but it's a glaring weakness of this team. There are some interesting pieces that the Hornets could pursue to help fix that problem. Just having Plumlee and PJ Washington soak up minutes at the five this season can steer this team to the postseason. But a true center is essential for a real chance to compete.

Now, there are a few interesting pieces that are available via trade. The first one that should come to mind for most people should be Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers. Turner's game actually fits not just the Hornets schemes, but what a center should do for their team today. He can block and alter shots of some of the best finishers throughout the league. He is long, athletic, perfect traits for a a seven-footer. He's also not too shabby of a post defender as well.

On offense, Turner is a good pick and pop guy with range out to the three-point line.

Another player that could be a potential trade piece is Domantas Sabonis. He's not as explosive as Turner, but he is a potent offensive force. Plus, he would be a post presence for Charlotte, which they haven't seen in years. Al Jefferson at the tail end of his career was the last one that comes to mind.

If they can't net those names, guys like Christian Wood and Richaun Holmes are guys that could provide a good spark for this Hornets squad. Holmes would be a perfect fit for the Hornets on the defensive end and Wood could provide nice scoring from the four or five spot. Just don't tell that fan that was hit with the ball by Wood back when Houston played in Charlotte.

On a serious note, the Hornets can make some serious noise in the playoffs, if they can cash out on one of these guys. They have plenty of options. Unfortunately, they may have to give up a guy like PJ Washington to get one of those guys and more. That will hurt, but it is a small price to pay.
