Nathan Peterman had a lot of hype surrounding him last season when he received his first start with the Buffalo Bills, but things did not go well. Even this season with the Bills, Peterman was unable to turn his career around and get it back on track. Now, he is without a job and his future in the NFL is in jeopardy.
According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bills have decided to release Peterman after the positive performance that they saw from Matt Barkley. They also have Josh Allen returning from injury and veteran quarterback Derek Anderson on the roster.
Throughout the eight career games that he played in for the Bills, Peterman ended up completing 52.3 percent of his pass attempts for 548 yards, three touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Those numbers simply are not going to get the job done for any NFL team.
At 24 years old, it would be legitimate to question whether another team will give him a chance or not. He has played so poorly in his chances with the Bills that other team would not be interested in taking a risk on him.
It seems strange that just last year, there were fans excited to see Peterman play. Things were that bad at the quarterback position. Buffalo now seems to have a franchise quarterback on the roster in Allen.
Hopefully, Allen will be able to come back from his elbow injury strong. He needs to play as much as possible to get his development in for the future.
Expect to see Peterman sit in free agency for the remainder of the season. It would be a shock if another team gives him a chance midseason, but perhaps he will land a deal for training camp and preseason to try and prove himself again in 2019.
