The Buffalo Bills are coming off a very solid season but after falling short of their Super Bowl aspirations, Josh Allen and Co. will be looking to improve even more for 2022.

On Tuesday, they took a step in the right direction in doing so by signing running back JD McKissic to a two-year deal worth $7 million. Via Mike Garafolo:

Definitely not the biggest name, but more depth for the Bills in their backfield. Allen was actually one of their best rushers last season behind Devin Singletary, who racked up 870 yards on 118 carries and seven touchdowns. Zack Moss also did some damage.

McKissic hasn't enjoyed a ton of success at the NFL level, nor been much of a starter. Across six seasons with the Washington Commanders, Seattle Seahawks, and Detroit Lions, he has just 979 rushing yards and four TDs. Nevertheless, this is another potential weapon for the Bills on offense. He's been around the league for a hot minute and rushed for over four yards per carry for Washington in 2021, appearing in 11 games.

The Bills were sixth in the NFL in rushing yards this past season with 129.9 per game, much in part to Allen and Singletary in particular. JD McKissic will likely get the chance to battle it out with Moss for the backup job behind Singletary.
