Buffalo Bills stars Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs have built quite the rapport in their first year together. Apparently, video games played a role in the relationship.

The Bills acquired Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings in March. But with the coronavirus pandemic preventing the team from holding organized team activities, Diggs had limited opportunities to establish chemistry with his new quarterback.

As told by ESPN's Sam Borden, the Bills' quarterback-receiver duo created a bond over playing Call of Duty: Warzone in the spring, with Allen always looking to help his new teammate:

The game that Diggs and Allen played together, Call of Duty: Warzone, is pretty much what you'd imagine: a mission-based game with lots of weapons, artillery and shooting. Diggs, as a relative novice, spent a lot of time dying (or being “downed,” to use the vernacular), but that actually turned out to be a good thing.

While most players simply fight on if someone they know is downed, Allen always retreated from whatever battle he was in — even if he had an advantage — to run over to Diggs' avatar and resuscitate him.

“It didn't matter if I was getting shot or not,” Allen says. “I was going to revive my guy.”

Diggs said the time spent with Allen online created a sense of familiarity when the two met in person for the first time. Indeed, the chemistry has been evident during a season in which the Bills have racked up a 10-3 record.

Allen is having not just his best season as a pro, but one of the best seasons of any quarterback in football. Meanwhile, Diggs leads the NFL with 100 receptions and ranks third in receiving yards (1,167).

Buffalo's offense is kicking into high gear thanks to Allen and Diggs. Bills fans have Call of Duty to thank for some of the success.
