After understandably struggling against the New England Patriots defense, as have many this season, the Buffalo Bills did not only lose an important divisional game but also might have also lost their starting quarterback, Josh Allen.

After taking off for a run, Allen did his best to try and get the first down in a game were yardage and points were limited, but while doing so he received a nasty hit from Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones.

Allen was knocked out of the game and put into the leagues concussion protocol. According to reports, Allen remains in concussion protocol, leaving his availability up in the air for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Bills safety Micah Hyde told reporters after the game that if one of their defenders delivered the same kind of hit to the league's golden boy quarterback, “we wouldn't be in the game anymore.” While many called the hit a simple football play, given that Allen has used his legs tremendously through the first three games of the season and his 6-foot-5 frame is more difficult to tackle than other quarterbacks, others are calling it a dirty hit.

In the same week, Raiders defender Vontaze Burfict was suspended for the rest of the season after he delivered a helmet-to-helmet hit against Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle, a hit which the league deemed worthy of handing out the longest suspension for an on-field hit.

Burfict's record suspension was in large part due to his past; Jones does not posses nearly the same history as Burfict, which might be why his similar hit didn't result in a suspension.
