Buffalo Bills defensive end, Shaq Lawson had his fifth-year option declined by the team, and he is using that as motivation heading into this year. With the team declining his fifth-year option, he will be a free agent after this season, and there is a good chance he won't make the $10 million that the option was worth.

“No, I ain’t concerned. It’s motivation. I know what time it is. It’s do or die,” Lawson said, via the Buffalo News. “I’ve been through a situation like this before. It’s just a small step. Me, I’m just gonna go out there and ball this year and see where everything falls.”

Over the last three seasons has only had 76 tackles, 10 sacks and four forced fumbles and a big reason for the loss of production has been the 13 games he has missed. Lawson's biggest strength since coming into the league has been his rush defense, but the rest of the game still needs some work.

Even though the Bills declined his option, coach Sean McDermott wouldn't rule out the team bringing him back next season.

“It doesn’t necessarily mean after this year we will go our separate ways. We like the work he’s put in,” McDermott said.

The most important thing for Lawson this season is to stay healthy. He needs to prove he can be productive for an entire season before the Bills or another team are going to give him a contract next season. Lawson knows it's do or die and he is ready to prove everyone wrong.
