CJ McCollum may no longer be with the Portland Trail Blazers, but he remains supportive of the team and his former teammates as they try to navigate the season without their stars. In fact, he recently showed love to rising star Anfernee Simons, who has taken over for Portland amid Damian Lillard's injury and McCollum's departure.

On Friday, McCollum quote-tweeted a highlight reel video of Simons showing how well the Blazers youngster played in the week before the All-Star break. Simons actually averaged 30.3 points and 6.7 assists in the three games they played, all while shooting 52.3 percent from the floor and 47.4 percent from three.

Simons was the biggest factor for the Blazers as they go 3-0 in that stretch, and McCollum is clearly happy to see him thriving. He also sent a message of support for the 22-year-old, telling him to “flourish” and “get ya chicken $”.

Anfernee Simons is set to become a free agent after the 2021-22 season, so as CJ McCollum said it, his breakout campaign has certainly put him in a great position to get paid handsomely in free agency. And he definitely deserves it after bringing life back in Portland despite earlier doubts that they can survive the season and even make the playoffs given their lack of star power.

The Blazers still have a lot of work to do and are still uncertain if they can make the postseason, though the play-in tournament remains a viable path. Whatever happens, however, the Blazers still have a lot to look forward to.
