Everyone knows Blazers guard Damian Lillard is a great guy, and he recently recounted one instance where he helped his teammate Luis Montero.

Montero was an undrafted rookie that signed with the team in 2015. He was at the end of the bench, so he only played 42 minutes in the entirety of the 2015-16 NBA season. Montero was inactive for many games, but didn't have the proper attire to sit on an NBA bench. He sent most of his money home to his family in the Dominican Republic, where he's from. Lillard took it upon himself to help his teammate upgrade his wardrobe. He says he was glad to help Montero upgrade his look on game day.

“I mean, it wasn’t like the worst thing you’ve ever seen, but as a professional athlete, on TV, you don’t want people pointing at you like you are childish,” Lillard told The Athletic.

Luis Montero is no longer on the team, but he'll definitely always remember the help he got from Damian Lillard. Lillard has proved to be a great player, and an even better teammate over the years.

“Sometimes people need that, someone to show them the way,” Lillard said.

Portland had an impressive season in their last campaign. They surprised a lot of skeptics by finishing third in the ultra competitive Western Conference. They have their core group back, which includes Lillard and his co-star C.J. McCollum. Lillard may be kind to his teammates, but he'll look to treat anyone that challenges the Blazers this season like an enemy.
