Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard expects to miss at least 3-4 games with his groin injury, according to Bleacher Report's Sean Highkin.
Lillard didn't play in Sunday's All-Star Game in Chicago because of his injury. He did, however, rap on Saturday and put on a solid show in The Windy City.
Lillard and the Blazers are 25-31 on the season. They are in ninth place in the Western Conference standings after reaching the Western Conference Finals last season. Portland will have to go on a crazy run in the second half of the season to replicate their success from the 2018-19 campaign.
Lillard is averaging 29.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 7.9 assists on the season for the Blazers. He’s shooting 46.0 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from beyond the arc and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line.
The good news is that Lillard didn’t hear a pop when he injured his groin against the Memphis Grizzlies. The second half of the Blazers' season would have been pointless if Lillard was done for the rest of the season. He's going to play it safe, though, and make sure he gets completely healthy before returning:
The Blazers play host to the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday to kick off the unofficial second half of the season. CJ McCollum and Carmelo Anthony will have to carry the load on offense until Lillard gets back.
A five-time All-Star, Damian Lillard has career averages of 24.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists with the Blazers.
