Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard reacted to plenty of alarmed fans in his social media mentions after a Los Angeles Lakers fan account “reported” he was considering joining the Lakers.

This was just one of the many April Fools' Day pranks on Twitter, with even more of them sprouting up now that the NBA 2019-20 season is on hiatus.

Lillard replied to the tweet with a simple question:

The tweet was very obviously an April Fools' Day joke, and not a very elaborate one.

The first hint was saying Lillard was “unhappy with the front office.” The Oakland native has had a tight-knit relationship with Blazers brass and ownership throughout his career. So much so that they signed him to a supermax extension this past summer.

The second clue is the Lakers being the team he targeted. If Lillard was to seek a trade, the front-runners in the West would likely be last on his wishlist. He has constantly noted he's not a fan of superteams and would be okay retiring without a title in Portland instead of choosing to chase a ring.

Out of all the potential stars who would want a trade, Lillard is one who would be hard to believe.

The All-Star point guard has the Blazers chasing the eighth playoff spot in the West, atop a virtual three-way tie with the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings. Portland is still 3.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for that spot, but that won't be enough reason for Lillard to swap jerseys anytime soon.
