Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard appears to be not surprised when he learned that head coach Terry Stotts is not going anywhere anytime soon.

According to ESPN, the Trail Blazers signed Stotts to a multi-year contract extension. Lillard reacted to the contract extension, saying that Stotts deserves the new deal that he received from Portland.

Lillard, who is also expected to get a new deal from the Trail Blazers, has developed a strong relationship with Stotts. The 28-year-old superstar has been under the 61-year-old coach since he started his NBA career in 2012.

Lillard and Stotts have made the playoffs over the past seven seasons. There were doubts about Stotts' future in Portland earlier in the season, especially after they suffered an upset against the lower-seeded New Orleans Pelicans in the playoffs last season.

However, Stotts solidified his grip on his position after leading the Trail Blazers deep into the playoffs this season. They defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets in the first two rounds of the playoffs before getting swept by the defending champions Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

Under Stotts, the Trail Blazers reached the Western Conference Finals for the first time since the 2000 NBA Playoffs, and they did it without starting center Jusuf Nurkic. In his seven seasons in Portland, the Iowa native has amassed a 325-249 record as head coach.
