Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard is not only one of the best basketball players in the NBA, but he's also a very talented rapper.

Lillard's stage name of “Dame D.O.L.L.A.” is one of the best nicknames in the game right now. The Blazers star spoke to Lisa Robinson of Variety about the origins of his cool nickname:

Robinson: How did you get the nickname “Dame D.O.L.L.A.?”

Damian Lillard: My college roommates called me Dame Dolla, and then I decided to use it as my rap name. But I turned “Dolla” into an acronym: It stands for different on levels the Lord allows.

Lillard and the Blazers will be among the 22 teams playing at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Until the games start, though, Dame is going to continue to use his platform to speak out on police brutality and systemic racism in America.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended in March, Lillard was averaging 28.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists for the Blazers in 58 games. The five-time All-Star and former Rookie of the Year was also shooting 45.7 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from beyond the arc and 88.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Lillard and the Blazers reached the Western Conference Finals last season, where they got swept by the Golden State Warriors. This season, though, was a struggle for Portland. We'll see if Dame and Co. snag that final playoff spot in the West.

Portland will have to beat out the Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs.
