Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard is trying to connect with people and unite everyone through his social media platform while the world goes through the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a conference call with Blazers reporters on Tuesday, Lillard expanded on what he's trying to accomplish when he goes on these IG lives:
“I’m just trying to connect with people,” Damian Lillard said, via The Athletic.
“All of us being forced to quarantine, you know, we are stuck in the house and not able to go along with our normal activities, it’s putting us in a different position where we have to communicate. I’ve been in the house all day with my son from when he wakes up at 7 in the morning to when he goes to sleep at 9 at night. Changing diapers. Potty training him. Making him breakfast. Sitting here watching all these kids TV shows with him. Going for a walk. I mean everything, every step of the way … just doing things I wouldn’t normally do because I’m not here or I’m on the road or at practice or something like that.”
Dame then went on to say that he is “just trying to be a part of that unity and togetherness that’s necessary right now” since everyone is experiencing the same thing.

While the Blazers were struggling in the 2019-20 season, Lillard continues to show why he remains a beloved figure in Portland. He's so humble and selfless despite being a millionaire and one of the best NBA players in the world.
Lillard wants people to know that everyone is in the COVID-19 fight together, no matter if you play for the Blazers or if you're a bank teller.
NBA owners want to resume the 2019-20 season in the summer, but they have to first monitor the coronavirus. The virus continues to spread like crazy.
Lillard and the Blazers were in ninth place in the Western Conference standings before the season was suspended. Lillard was averaging 28.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 58 games.
