Chris Paul is finally going to play in his first NBA Finals, and it only took a decade and a half to do it. Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard couldn't help but react by posting a subtle message on Twitter.

Dame was obviously watching the action as it happened, and the Blazers star retweeted a telling take from Skai Jackson that relayed exactly how he felt about seeing Chris Paul get over the hump.

Damian Lillard Blazers

The tweet says a lot about Damian Lillard. The Blazers star is giving Chris Paul his props, while also using it as motivation to be able to achieve the same success that his older counterpart just reached. Lillard and CP3 don't have too much in common in terms of their style of play, but their paths have a few similarities based on Paul's earlier years.

Just like Chris Paul prior to this season, Damian Lillard has struggled all throughout his career to lift his Blazers team to heights beyond just the Western Conference Finals. But it's never been for lack of effort from Dame's part. The dynamic scoring guard has been an All-NBA talent countless times but has never found the right supporting cast that was strong enough to overcome their rivals.

Chris Paul's success definitely showed Damian Lillard that the process isn't easy for everybody. But it's truly that much sweeter when you finally make the climb to the summit. The NBA championship is right there for the taking for CP3 and the Suns, a position Lillard one day hopes to be in with the Blazers.
