Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard's player development trainer, Phil Beckner, says Lillard “wants to make the Hall of Fame” and has bigger goals than just hitting game-winners like he did against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Beckner and Lillard have been working together for over a decade. Beckner helped the Blazers' best player by encouraging Lillard to raise his release point so that he could shoot these long 3-pointers we are seeing him hit in the 2019 postseason.

“You fail a lot before you succeed,” Beckner said, via Ben Golliver of the Washington Post. “We have a formula that pays off for him, but it’s not for everybody. He doesn’t just want a game-winner, he wants to make the Hall of Fame.

“The truly elite players like Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are using a different three-point line now. Their line is about four feet behind the normal line. He wants to be one of those guys.”

It's safe to say Lillard is well on his way to making the Hall of Fame. He has career averages of 23.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists and made the All-Star team four times.

This season, Lillard passed LaMarcus Aldridge to become the second-leading scorer Blazers franchise history.
