Portland Trail Blazers big man Jusuf Nurkic is tired of seeing people in the United States take the best solution to end the global pandemic for granted. Although COVID-19 cases in the United States have decreased dramatically over the past several months, in large part because of the vaccines, Nurkic still could not help but feel bad for smaller and poorer nations that are not getting enough supply of the shots, others in America continue to be stubborn about getting vaxxed.

Nurkic recently guested on ESPN Daily and spoke about his desire to buy vaccines for his home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina while resenting the negative attitude of some people in the United States towards the vaccine.

Back in January, the US had hit the 300,000-mark of daily cases but as latest as of July 14th, the count is only down to below 39,000. Meanwhile, the Blazers’ home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina has also seen a great decrease in cases. In fact, there were only 33 news cases there on July 13th.

Still, there’s the threat of the Delta variant of COVID-19 should keep everyone on their toes, despite the progress of some nations.

As for Jusuf Nurkic, he’s got every right to be frustrated. After all, he felt the impact of the virus as well when the NBA had to shut down temporarily in 2020.

Nurkic signed a four-year deal worth $48 million with the Blazers in 2018, so if he really intends to buy vaccines, he’s got the money to purchase a bunch of them.
