Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony won the Western Conference Player of the Week Award on Monday. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James couldn't be happier.

On Friday night, LeBron and Melo will be back on an NBA court for the 34th time when the Lakers and Blazers face each other. James says he's “fu**ing proud” of Anthony for winning the award and proving all the naysayers wrong.

“Proud of him,” James told The Athletic. “I don’t know if he needed to hear it or not, but I’m fucking proud of him. Like, really like a blood brother. It’s like, when people throwing stones on you and trying to bury you alive and you able to rise above that shit? That’s amazing. Shit kind of hit home. It’s a beautiful thing. Beautiful thing. Only the strong survive.”

Anthony put up 22.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for the Blazers last week. Portland defeated the Chicago Bulls twice and the Oklahoma City Thunder once.

Melo is averaging 16.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in eight games with the Blazers. The 10-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer is shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from the 3-point line and 86.4 percent from the charity stripe.
