Brooklyn Nets forward Wilson Chandler said that the Portland Trail Blazers made the right decision in signing CJ McCollum to a contract extension.

Chandler said that the superstar deserved the deal that he got based on how he performed in the past several seasons.

McCollum signed a three-year contract extension worth $100 million with the Blazers. The deal will be on top of his current five-year, $157 million contract, which means that the 27-year-old will be tied to the Blazers until the 2023-24 NBA season.

McCollum had another strong year with the Blazers last season, as he averaged 21.0 points on top of 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He also helped Portland reach the Western Conference Finals, though they eventually bowed down to the Golden State Warriors.

Blazers president of basketball operations Neil Olshey had nothing but praises for McCollum. Olshey said that McCollum is a cornerstone of the franchise, and the extension that they gave is a validation of their commitment to staying a serious contender in the years to come.

The deals came a month after Portland handed McCollum's backcourt running mate Damian Lillard a four-year, $196 million supermax contract extension. The moves ensured that the Blazers have a strong foundation moving forward.
