Portland Trail Blazers owner and billionaire Paul Allen is known to be a good diver, outside of being the co-founder of Microsoft. He has traveled around the world to take on some of the best diving spots, and has also taken part in explorations to search for missing Cruisers, like the Indianapolis from WWII.

Just recently, the 64-year-old led a group of historians from the Naval History and Heritage Command, as they received new leads on where the shipwreck might be. He then posted a tweet, sharing that they have finally found the Indianapolis in the deep waters of the Philippine Sea.

One of the cruiser's survivors, Arthur Leenerman, issued a statement following the development, via Ben Werner of USNI, where he shared his delight about it.

“I’m very happy that they found it. It’s been a long 72 years coming,” said a statement released by Indianapolis survivor Arthur Leenerman, 93 years-old from Mahomet, Ill. “I have wished for years that they would find it. The lost at sea families will feel pretty sad but I think finding the ship will also give them some closure. I’m glad that the search was successful. It will be interesting to see where it was found and how deep it was resting. ”

Allen may be a very busy businessman, but it's also nice to hear that he continues to be part of some good causes, like this one, as it gave a lot of answers to the last great naval tragedy of WWII. It also proves even more that he is a philanthropist as well, by donating a generous amount of money to promote the welfare of others.
